Ali Sedaif علي

Design must speak the language of its people, with a voice that challenges the status quo.

I'm a graphic designer from Bahrain. I build with Swiss discipline and look with an Eastern eye.

The Bauhaus, "less is more" and the Swiss grid shaped how I build. But I don't believe design should be a cold import. It has to be adapted to the place it lives in, and sometimes it has to be loud about it.

Every project starts with research and a story before it becomes a visual. My graduation project, a visual identity for Manama Souq, began with months of reading into the city's history as a trading port. When I travel, I skip the landmarks and walk the streets, looking for how people actually live. That habit is all over my work.

Cultural authenticity

Design should mirror the culture it serves, and still push its boundaries.

Functional radicalism

It has to work perfectly. And it has to carry a spark that makes people think.

Structural soul

The grid is the foundation. Inside it there's room for the human and the Eastern to breathe.
